Go-Go Gadget Android!!!

Microsoft might have some real competition in the netbook market soon, thanks to Google's fledgling operation system, known as Android.

According to Reuters.com, the open-source operating system which has made its way on to smartphones is now being tested by HP for use on their low-cost netbooks, right along side Linux and Microsoft Windows XP.  Microsoft is planning a release of Windows 7 that more directly caters to netbooks, however chipmaker Freescale, which has recently started making chipsets for netbooks, is planning a chipset for Android.

So what does this mean?  Hopefully it means that somebody is finally going to give Microsoft a run for their money in the world of operating systems.  As an avid fan of Linux, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens.
